Focusing on federal civil litigation, class action litigation, and other complex litigation matters, Shawn brings to his practice a deep understanding of how to litigate in federal courts and the state courts of Ohio. As a member of Isaac Wiles’ class action practice, he is devoted to protecting the rights of consumers and achieving tangible results for his clients.
Shawn’s experience in the court system is an asset to the Isaac Wiles team. Prior to joining the firm, Shawn served as a judicial clerk for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the Supreme Court of Ohio, and Ohio’s Ninth District Court of Appeals. His knowledge of the courts has led to Shawn frequently lecturing on federal civil litigation, as well as serving for years as an instructor for the U.S. District Court’s Federal Practice Seminar—a course attorneys are required to take before they are admitted to the bar of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. He is also a member of the Southern District of Ohio’s Local Rules Committee.
Shawn has also served as an adjunct professor at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law and Capital University Law School. For over a decade, he has been an editorial consultant to the Ohio Judicial Conference’s Ohio Jury Instructions Committee, which drafts pattern jury instructions for use in the state and federal courts throughout Ohio. Shawn is also a member of Ohio’s Board of Bar Examiners, which is responsible for developing, administering, and grading the Ohio bar examination.
